Upon arrival at Islamabad International Airport, guests are warmly received by our team and transferred to their hotel.
The journey into the mountains begins early in the morning. Depending on seasonal road conditions, the route will either pass through the scenic Babusar Pass (open June–September) or follow the historic Karakoram Highway. As the journey progresses, the lush plains of Hazara give way to the dramatic valleys of Kohistan and the deep gorges carved by the Indus River. Travelers witness the remarkable transformation of landscapes and climates within a single day. Along the way, short stops for lunch and photography are arranged. The day concludes in Chilas, a small town along the Indus that serves as a gateway to the northern highlands.
The road from Chilas leads deeper into the Karakoram. As we ascend along the Karakoram Highway, the landscape becomes increasingly awe-inspiring, with massive rock faces, glacial rivers, and occasional glimpses of Nanga Parbat, the ninth-highest mountain in the world. Key highlights include a stop at the Rakaposhi View Point, where the majestic 7,788-meter peak appears within touching distance. The journey continues through the tunnels and suspension bridges built with Chinese collaboration, ultimately arriving at the tranquil upper Hunza villages of Gulmit or Shishkat. These villages are nestled among apricot orchards, surrounded by snow-capped peaks, and lie close to the brilliant turquoise waters of Attabad Lake.
After a relaxed morning, the group departs by jeep for Borith Lake a peaceful alpine lake situated at the foot of the Passu Glacier. It serves as the starting point for the trek. The walk to Luzdhur is moderate and takes approximately 4–5 hours, following trails used by local shepherds. As the group ascends gradually, views of Passu Glacier emerge alongside distant glimpses of Passu Cones and Shispar Peak. The campsite at Luzdhur is set in a beautiful alpine meadow, offering serenity and a true sense of wilderness. Porters and support staff set up tents and provide warm meals under the stars.
The next leg of the trek leads toward Yourch, a high pasture that serves as the base camp for Patundas Ridge. This part of the trek offers stunning visual diversity from green meadows to rocky ridgelines and glacial viewpoints. The trail ascends gradually but requires consistent effort, as the altitude increases. The reward, however, is immense. On clear days, panoramic views of Batura Glacier, Passu Sar, and the expansive Hunza Valley unfold. The camp is set at a scenic point offering a peaceful atmosphere, allowing trekkers to acclimatize and prepare for the ridge the following day.
Early risers are rewarded with a golden sunrise over the Karakoram as they embark on an optional hike to the Patundas Ridge. At an altitude of approximately 4,100 meters, this ridge provides an unforgettable 360-degree view: Batura and Passu glaciers spread out below like frozen rivers, flanked by a sea of jagged peaks that seem to stretch endlessly into the horizon. After descending to camp for breakfast, the group begins the trek back to Borith Lake, where vehicles await for the return drive to Gulmit or Shishkat. Hot showers and comfortable beds await after two nights in the wilderness.
This day is dedicated to exploring the rich culture and scenic beauty of Upper Hunza. The tour begins in Ghulkin, a traditional Wakhi village known for its stone houses and agricultural lifestyle. A visit to the Hussaini Suspension Bridge offers a thrilling walk across the Hunza River, while Gulmit presents a wealth of cultural heritage from its 400-year-old wooden homes to the Women’s Handicraft Center that showcases Hunzai weaving and embroidery. In the afternoon, the group visits Passu village for up-close views of the famous Passu Cones and the mighty glacier flowing beside it. It’s a day that blends history, hospitality, and breathtaking nature.
The return journey begins early, retracing the route along the Karakoram Highway or passing through the stunning Babusar Top, depending on road conditions. This drive, though long, is scenic and relaxing. Guests enjoy their final views of the peaks and valleys that have defined the past several days. Stopovers for photography, meals, and rest are arranged. The group spends the night in either Besham (if taking the KKH) or Naran (if coming via Babusar Pass), depending on the route taken.
The final leg of the journey leads back to Islamabad. After checking into the hotel and freshening up, guests may choose to visit local markets or enjoy a farewell dinner. This day offers time to reflect on the experiences of the past week, the treks, the people, the mountain sunrises, and the cultural moments that made this adventure unforgettable.
Depending on the flight schedule, a half-day city tour of Islamabad and Rawalpindi is organized. Guests visit prominent sites such as the Pakistan Monument, Lok Virsa Heritage Museum, and the bustling Raja Bazaar. After shopping for souvenirs or tasting some local delicacies, the group is transferred to Islamabad International Airport for their onward journey bringing this incredible experience to a close.
