Itinerary

1

Arrival in Skardu and Transfer to Khaplu

Upon arrival at Skardu Airport, guests are received by the tour representative and transferred toward Khaplu Valley. The scenic drive follows the mighty Indus River, offering breathtaking views of rugged mountains and traditional Balti villages. This gradual introduction to Baltistan sets the tone for the journey ahead.

On arrival in Khaplu, guests check into their hotel and relax. Later, they may explore the historic Khaplu Palace, a beautifully restored 19th-century royal residence reflecting Balti architecture and heritage. The evening can be spent strolling through the peaceful village surroundings before dinner and overnight stay in Khaplu.

2

Khaplu to Shigar and Skardu

After breakfast, the journey continues back toward Skardu with a scenic detour into Shigar Valley. Here, guests visit the magnificent Shigar Fort, a 400-year-old fort that has been carefully restored and now stands as a symbol of Baltistan’s royal history.

Following the cultural exploration, the drive proceeds to Skardu town. Upon arrival, guests may explore the local bazaar and surrounding landscapes. Depending on time availability, a visit to Upper Kachura Lake can be arranged, where crystal-clear waters reflect the surrounding mountains. Dinner and overnight stay are arranged in Skardu.

3

Skardu to Hunza Valley

This day features one of the most scenic drives in northern Pakistan. After an early breakfast, guests travel toward Hunza via the legendary Karakoram Highway. The route offers continuous views of dramatic cliffs, river gorges, and snow-capped peaks.

En route, short stops are made at scenic viewpoints, including the Rakaposhi viewpoint (subject to road conditions). Upon arrival in Hunza (Karimabad), guests check into their hotel. The evening is free for relaxation, allowing time to absorb the serene mountain atmosphere.

4

Exploring Hunza Valley

The day is dedicated to discovering the cultural and historical treasures of Hunza. The exploration begins with a guided visit to Baltit Fort, an iconic fort perched above Karimabad that dates back over 700 years. The fort offers insights into the former Hunza state and provides panoramic views of surrounding peaks.

The journey continues to Altit Fort, another architectural gem that predates Baltit and represents early Hunza civilization. Guests can also explore Karimabad’s traditional bazaar for local handicrafts and dry fruits. In the evening, an optional excursion to Duikar (Eagle’s Nest) provides stunning sunset views over Rakaposhi and Ultar peaks. Overnight stay remains in Hunza.

5

Hunza to Attabad, Hussaini and Passu

After breakfast, the tour proceeds toward Upper Hunza. The first major stop is the mesmerizing Attabad Lake, formed in 2010 after a massive landslide. Its turquoise waters, surrounded by towering mountains, create a dramatic landscape. Optional boating can be arranged here.

Continuing along the Karakoram Highway, guests visit the famous Hussaini Suspension Bridge, known for its thrilling wooden planks suspended above the Hunza River. The journey then proceeds to the stunning Passu Glacier, often referred to as the White Glacier, offering close-up views of glacial formations and the iconic Passu Cones. Overnight stay is arranged in Shishkat.

6

Gulmit, Ghulkin and Baskochi Meadows

This day blends culture and light adventure. Guests begin with a visit to the Old House Museum, which showcases traditional Wakhi lifestyle, architecture, and household artifacts. The exploration continues through Gulmit Village, offering insight into the region’s unique cultural identity, followed by a visit to nearby Ghulkin village.

In the afternoon, a short hike leads to Baskochi Meadows. The trail is moderate and rewarding, offering expansive views of surrounding peaks and glaciers. After enjoying the alpine scenery, guests return to their hotel for dinner and overnight stay in Upper Hunza.

7

Return to Skardu and Excursion to Basho Valley

After an early breakfast, guests begin their return journey to Skardu. Upon arrival, the tour continues toward the beautiful Basho Valley, known for its lush green meadows, pine forests, and tranquil mountain setting. The valley provides a refreshing contrast to the rugged terrain seen earlier in the trip.

Guests may enjoy a short nature walk, photography session, or simply relax amidst the alpine scenery before returning to Skardu by evening. A farewell dinner is arranged, marking the conclusion of the Baltistan and Hunza exploration. Overnight stay in Skardu.
